Quality & Dependable Inspection

Timberland Automotive is proud to share our 10 point inspection process with you. Our goal is for you to feel that you are confident and safe in your vehicle.

  • Engine & Under the Hood: Check for leaks, smoke, and proper fluid levels (oil, coolant, transmission). Look for worn belts and battery corrosion.

  • Tires & Suspension: Check tread depth (minimum 3/16 inch) and uneven wear indicating alignment issues. Press down on all four corners; the car should not bounce more than once.

  • Brakes: Check for uneven pad wear, brake pedal firmness, and any vibration or screeching when stopping.

  • Test Drive: Listen for unusual engine noises or vibrations. Test gear shifts, acceleration, and steering responsiveness.

  • Frame & Undercarriage: Look for signs of damage from rust, uneven panel gaps, or evidence of welding, suggesting a prior accident.

  • Diagnostics: Use an OBD-II scanner to identify trouble codes that show up on the dashboard.

  • Interior & Electronics: Test the air conditioning, heater, windows, door locks, sunroof, infotainment system, and check for dash warning lights.

  • Exterior: Check for paint inconsistencies (indicating repairs), rust, and that all lights and wipers function.

  • Safety Features: Verify that all seatbelts function and the airbag warning light operates normally (turns on, then off).

  • Documentation: Check the vehicle history report (e.g., Carfax) for accidents, title status, and verify the VIN matches on all documents.
